I have come across a few different names for this kind of knife; rope knife, and electrician’s knife being the most popular. There were fish knives nearby this one where I bought it, and fishing is a big business/pastime around here, so I’ll go with rope knife. I soaked the blade in vinegar, sanded the handle, coated it in beeswax/linseed. Then covered it with sawdust from my belt sander and wiped it off under my arm right before taking these pictures.
