If it was so terrible, why did so many people buy it for so long, especially when there were plenty of alternatives available? Price, probably. In 1898, the 110 was 45¢, $12.92 in 2015’s money. According to Stanley’s 1953 catalog it was their “most popular of all non-adjustable block planes.” I won’t put much work into this one.
